Walking in Nya's Shoes

Mrs Todd is reading a book called a long walk to water today we did a re-enactment of someone in the book called Nya ,it took her 8-12 km to the water hole and then 8-12 km back, it took us 2.54 km there and back we walked around the block with empty containers then we filled them up and walked around the block with them filled up.

We discovered that it was really hard carrying them filled up.

I feel sorry for those people who do this everyday and I enjoyed it but it was exhausting. I also found that my arms were really tired.

Tiki Art

Today we created tiki art.  We had to use 3 colours that were adjacent on the colour wheel, then use a colour opposite for the background.

Room 3 Fractions

Yesterday Room 3 had a little fun with fractions. We had cake decorations in a bag and had to sort them out into groups. Then we had to fill in a grid with lots of different fractions. After that we got to use our decorations on a biscuit that we iced.

Comparing Cycles

Yesterday we made this compare and contrast map on the wall, comparing a life cycle and a water cycle. The ones in the middle are the similarities. Everyone in the class had to put up at least two and there were some really great answers.

Another Water Cycle Experiment

I have made a different water cycle project.
I used a mug, large mixing bowl,
rubber bands and water.
When I had finished my water cycle I had predicted that tomorrow it will have water droplets coming down as precipitation.                                   I have made a water cycle inside a container. My water cycle was made out of a rock, water and a plant, my water cycle was very successful.  By Kate and Ceana

Water Cycles in a Bag

Today we made water cycles in a bag.  We made predictions about what we think will happen and we will be observing them to see if our predictions are correct.

Precipitation

Yesterday Mrs Todd showed us how to make rain in a jar. First Mrs Todd put hot water in the jar then put a saucer on top of the jar next she put ice cubes on the saucer . Then we watched the drops from the saucer splash into the water in the jar. By Hemi

Turnips!

In term 1, Room 3 planted turnips in our vege garden.  Last week we harvested them and got a really good crop.  Today, Mrs Todd cooked glazed turnips and they were delicious!.  Only about 4 people in the class didn't really like them.  Lots of the room 3 students are planning to make them at home for their family.  If you would like the recipe, have a look on the homework page.

Cycles of the Seasons Poems

We have written poems about the cycle of the seasons using a variety of styles.  We also published our poems in 4 different ways to show the contrast.  Here are some examples of our poetry:

Autumn
I saw a tree with so many leaves on it so I walked under it.
There was a leave spiraling down, as I was leaving I stood on about six acorns and all I heard was crunch it sounded like fireworks but it was not. The wind past my face, almost like a race car going to the finish line.

I feel like winter is near I wonder is it here.  Well I see people playing with ice on the grass.
I hear people shivering and saying I’m cold. and I smell the nice cold fresh air.
I hear birds singing to me. I see trees of green red roses too but when I think to
myself what a wonderful world and that is how I know winter is here.
