War from both sides

Today we looked at the war from the perspective of both German and Turk soldiers, and British and Anzac soldiers.  We some of their recounts.  We found that their experiences were almost exactly the same.  They had the same fears and awful experiences.  Here is some of our writing in response.

British Soldier – I was standing in my trench, then I looked at a German soldier coming.  We both stopped and suddenly I had a sense of belief and hope.
German Soldier – I was walking to the British trench with my bayonet.  I could see the innocent look on his face.  I stopped, then I thought this man did not deserve to die.
By Kate.

British soldier
I crept up on him, he had something in his hand, brown paper shaped like a block.
German soldier-I tapped on his shoulder and gave him a present. I had bullets flying past my head. I'd dropped the present just before I gave it to him.  It sank in the mud and disappeared .
By Eliotte.

British soldier-he’s just like me. He’s the same age as me. He also has a family like me. We could be best friends. Should I shoot or should I shake his hand. I can’t kill him he’s just like me a little boy.
German soldier-should I poke my sharp sword into his chest or should I be his friend? Because he’s just like me. We both have family he is just like me a young boy with family and friends.
By Gert.

British soldier  - I creep up to the enemy trench another boy just like me. I get closer, time slower, I see a figure.  His shaky blue eyes get bigger.  A wrong move will be my last
German soldier – as I peep from my trench a figure getting closer,  I back down the thoughts. A flashback, my family, my kids.  If I don’t shoot I won't get to see my kids grow up.  Will I shoot or not? He is even closer.   Is this the end ?

British soldier –I creep up on him he was holding something in his hand -  a photo of people,  I think his family. A twig snapped under my feet.  He looked up, his eyes red and puffy. He picked up his gun and said    "my family ".
German soldier – my photos, my prized photos.  Deep in thoughts,  how are they now?  I felt a tear run down my cheek. I remember  - the gentle must feel savage, the savage must weep.  A twig snapped.  I look up and say "my family "

German Soldier
I run to the enemies trench ‘bang’ I shoot first, he falls to the ground with a big thump, suddenly I recognise him, my eyes fill with tears as I see my own fathers eyes close as he rises to heaven.
Allied Soldier
I try to shoot as the enemy approaches our trench. I hear the bang as he fires at me first, then ‘thump’, I fall to the ground as my own son recognises me as I rise to heaven.

What we did in Term 1

A summary of Term 1
One Wednesday we did our medieval play and I was a Noble woman. Charlie was the main character but that was all right. IT was Scary the first half but the second half I liked better.
After that we had our medieval feast and we hate pigs trotters, chicken feet. With a gross amount of food like that Mrs Neiuwbore had to get us pig’s ears, really gross.
On a Monday we had swimming sports and we had to get in our houses and dress up, I had to dress up in green. I came 2nd in all of my races apart from one it was breastroke.
BEST TERM EVER, TERM 1
By Kiera

Hello, I am Chloe C and I am Gonna tell you what I loved in term 1.I loved doing the wasp nest because it smelt like rotten eggs and I loved looking at Mrs Todd with her disgusted face. You should of seen it! It was hilarious. I also liked the pasta sauce because it smelt AMAZING! And because it was very tasty and it made the whole classroom smell LOVELY! It was gorgeous. I also liked the crosses because when we were making it, a lot of people kept on saying that theirs would not break but at the end everyone’s broke. Except Mrs Todd’s one. This term in term 1 , I loved being in room 3 and I can not wait until next term because I want to get the ipod for the holiday reading and because I love being in Mrs Todd’s class and she is fantastic. And she is like a mother to me. [She is very crafty]the end.

The three things this term I liked the most were making pasta because it was delicious and fun, autumn poetry cause the poetry was very smooth   , Medieval posters the posters were full of history and smart  [smarty pants]                                by Alex T

This term room three did lots of cool things but the most fun thing I went too and did these are the three  - dentist swimming sports and PE
I liked swimming at swimming sports there were lots of fun and activities boats and more I came 2nd in free style it rained and was cold
PE was fun my class had soccer rugby and dodgeball it was so much fun I got hit a lot with the ball
The dentist was grim   hurt to  get my filling there were drills the school went when the truck came to the school
So those are three of the most exciting things from term I 2015 in room three with Mrs Todd next term is going to be fun too.

This term it’s been a blast with room3 this year playing tea ball, dancing and our coat of arms work  here is a 3  part summary on my 3 favourite things this term.
Tea ball
Tea ball is my favourite game ever  because you're always busy fielding or batting.

Dancing
Was so fun with Mrs Stephonsons at first I thought dance was stupid  after dance I saw why people love dancing you use energy and entertain people
Coat of arms
The coat of arms work was so fun because you got to let your true colours shine and mine looked normal for once
That’s why term 1 was so fun this year

I am new to this school and I have joined room 3. It has been a great term and I have enjoyed Mrs Todd as my teacher. I’m really happy that we have studied medieval and the three things I have enjoyed this term were.......
Our medieval play. Doing our play and performing in front of all our families was exciting. We had dressed like vendors and villagers.  I  Reckon I looked authentic. We had so much fun.
The second thing I enjoyed this term was.......
Swimming Sports. I really enjoyed swimming sports because I like to swim. I was like a dolphin underwater. We did all sorts of fun activities like boat racing, the donut, and noodles. To play noodles some people tip out a whole lot of water objects out of a giant bucket and you have to grab as many objects as you can and put them back into the bucket.
The last thing I enjoyed this term was.......
Making clay medieval crosses. Making medieval crosses was awesome. Some broke but luckily it wasn’t the end of the world. Different diamonds and sequences. It was a fantastic term! And I’m looking forward to next term.       By Chloe H

This term in room 3 I have been very interested in all the things we have done. About half way through the term we made clay crosses. They were really fun to make and we decorated them like the medieval people decorated theirs.  Kiera’s ,  Mrs Todd’s and mine didn’t break, also some other crosses didn’t break. Aidan and Samuel were walking with their crosses and they both dropped theirs in the same spot. They just fell out of their hands and dropped. Not the whole cross broke though just the top and the side. We also went to Life Ed. We saw Harold and played lots of games with Bernie (while Harold was watching SpongeBob.) We learnt about how brains work and what they do. We watched a movie that taught us all about what people need to do to keep their brain working. We cut open a wasp nest to look for the queen bee. We didn’t find her but we had quite an amazing experience. Man it stunk like petrol and you should have seen Mrs Todd’s face.
