Water Surface Tension on a coin!

Today we did a little experiment on the surface tension with water. We were very interested in how many drops of water we could get on a ten cent coin.We all had a lot of fun counting how many drops we got, our high score was 32 (so far). We also tried it on a small cup that was really interesting as well.

  1. Water surface tension on a $10c coin

My favorite (one favorite) thing this year was the water on a ten cent coin.
Our class (Room3) did a science experiment at school a while ago.
To see how many drops of water using a water holder we managed 32 drops of water according to Charlies piece of writing up the top of the photo.
It was interesting to see all the little water drops on a ten cent coin and also very interesting to see how many we could fit on the ten cent coin because to us a ten cent coin is small then to see all 32 drops of water on it is amazing.
I would recommend this as a fun activity to do on a wet day and to any age. Before you try it all make a guess first to how many you think and your friends think it can hold.
